The Very Hungry Caterpillar是一本充满了诗情与创意的儿童绘本，绘本讲述了一只著名的毛毛虫的故事。

如果说有一条虫子能一路畅通无阻地从一个国家爬到另一个国家，那么就是它了！三十多年来，这条从艾瑞克•卡尔手里爬出来的红脑壳、绿身子、高高地弓起来走路的毛毛虫，已经“吞噬”了世界上二千多万个孩子的心。

这只毛毛虫被翻译成47种语言出版，销售超过3000万册，想象一下有多少双好奇的眼睛阅读过它，有多少只稚嫩的小手抚摸过他吧，我们一起来看看这只月光下小小的蛋，是如何变成一只漂亮的蝴蝶的吧。

绘本的意思很简单，说的是一只小小的蛋里，爬出一只又小又饿的毛毛虫，然后它经过一些时间，吃了一些东西，最终变成蝴蝶的过程。

但就是这样短短的一本绘本，却能教孩子很多的东西，说它是一本科普书一点也不为过。

• 它教孩子星期一到星期日的说法从Monday到Sunday）

• 教孩子苹果、梨、李子、草莓、桔子等水果的说法（apple、 pear、plum、strawberry、orange）。

• 还有白天晚上（day and night），太阳和月亮<（sun and moon）。

• 各种食物：冰激凌，蛋糕，西瓜等等（ice cream cake watermelon and so on）。

• 还有毛毛虫和蝴蝶（The very hungry caterpillar and the butterfly）。

One Sunday morning the warm sun came up and pop! Out of the egg came a tiny and very hungry caterpillar.

He started to look for some food.

他开始四处寻找食物。

On Monday he ate through one apple. But he was still hungry.

On Tuesday he ate through two pears, but he was still hungry.

That night he had a stomach-ache!

The next day was Sunday again. The caterpillar ate through one nice green leaf, and after that he felt much better.

第二天，又是一个星期天。毛毛虫吃了一片新鲜的树叶，之后他便感觉好多了。

Now he wasn’t hungry anymore -- and he wasn’t a little caterpillar anymore. He was a big, fat caterpillar.

现在，他再也感觉不到饿了——他已经不再一条小小的毛毛虫了，他长成了一只肥嘟嘟的大毛毛虫。

He built a small house, called a cocoon, around himself. He stayed inside for more than two weeks. Then he nibbled a hole in the cocoon, pushed his way out….

他绕着自己的身子，建了一个叫“茧”的小房子。他在里面整整待了两周。然后他在茧上一点一点地啃了一个小洞，钻了出来…..
