这是一本非常经典的绘本，荣获了第14届日本绘本奖特别奖、1988年英国凯特·格林纳威奖提名、1989年美国内斯尔·斯、马尔蒂斯图书奖、1990年美国《号角书》杂志年度好书奖，也入选纽约公共图书馆“每个人都应该知道的100种图画书”。
绘本非常有趣，轻快的节奏，清新的图画，还有身临其境的纸上探险，让捉狗熊的兴奋与惊险跃然而出！

一个阳光明媚的日子，爸爸带领着他的四个孩子，一个还在蹒跚学步的婴儿、一个学龄前的男孩儿、两个穿着裙子的漂亮女孩儿，外加一条黑色的牧羊犬，欢呼雀跃般上路了！他们排成长长的一队，又蹦又跳地去捉熊！
捉熊？是的，是去捉熊，而且还是要去捉一头大熊！
他们经过了高大摇摆的野草、又凉又深的河水、又深又黏的烂泥、好大好深的树林、又急又大的风雪、又窄又暗的山洞，终于在山洞里发现一只狗熊，然而他们一见到巨大的狗熊，马上回头跑回洞口、跑回风雪中、跑回树林里、跑回烂泥地、再跑回野草地，最后打开自家大门，跑进卧房，盖上被子，吓得再也不敢去捉狗熊了。

4、总结
绘本里还有一些小细节呢，比如绘本是一页黑白一页彩色的绘画形式，当主人公陷入困境时，画面是黑白的，主人公知难而进时，画面是彩色的。
建议先听音频，再看书。听过音频后，可以先问问孩子，走过烂泥、树林、河水里或者野草会发出什么声音？读绘本的时候，边讲边唱边做动作，还可以模拟遇到大狗熊时候大家的表情，动作。在阅读之后，也可以学习猎熊歌，进行场景配音，表演出来啦。
